Ward III Whiskey Sour

Ingredients
- 2 ozbourbonHeaven Hill(Heaven Hill)
- 1 ozlemon juice
- ¾ oz
- 1egg white
- 1 tspred wineChianti, to float(Chianti, to float)
Garnish: maraschino cherry, orange wheel
Preparation
- 1.
Add all ingredients except the red wine to a shaker and vigorously dry-shake (without ice) for 30 seconds.
- 2.
Add ice and shake again until well chilled.
- 3.
Double-strain into a chilled rocks glass over fresh ice.
- 4.
Gently float the wine on top by drizzling it over the back of a bar spoon (see notes).
- 5.
Garnish with a skewered maraschino cherry and orange wheel.
Notes
To give this drink its proper visual appeal, carefully pour the red wine over the back of a bar spoon whose tip is just under the layer of egg white foam. When properly poured, the red wine should settle and float under the foam, creating a vivid red band between the white foam and the brown liquors below. Despair not if your initial efforts fail; on the upside, you can make the drink again (and again) until you get it right.
