Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 8, 2026
Spirit Guide (“we”, “us”, or “the app”) is a personal project that helps people discover and track cocktail recipes. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
We only collect information that you actively provide when you choose to sign in with Google. Specifically:
- Your Google account email address
- Your name and profile picture (as shown by Google)
- A unique user identifier assigned by our authentication provider
We also store activity you generate within the app while signed in — such as the drinks you favorite, rate, or mark as “made it” — so we can show them back to you on your profile page.
We do not collect any information from users who browse the app without signing in, beyond standard server logs.
How we use your information
- To sign you in and keep you signed in
- To display your saved favorites, ratings, and drink history on your profile
- To occasionally email you about the app — for example, a newsletter about cocktails or significant updates. We expect to send these rarely, if ever. Every email will include an unsubscribe link.
We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or use it for any tracking or profiling beyond what's required to operate the app.
Where your information lives
Account data and app activity are stored in Supabase, which hosts our database and handles authentication. The app itself is hosted on Vercel. Both are standard, reputable infrastructure providers with their own privacy practices.
Your choices
You can sign out at any time from the sidebar. If you'd like your account and all associated data deleted, email us at hello@ryanburney.com and we'll remove it. You can also revoke the app's access to your Google account directly from your Google account settings.
Cookies
We use essential cookies only, set by our authentication provider to keep you signed in. We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we collect or use your information, we'll update this page and change the “last updated” date at the top. Material changes will also be communicated to signed-in users via email.
