Ingredients: 0.5 oz Fiery Ginger Syrup; 0.25 oz Demerara Gum Syrup; 1 oz gin; 1 oz brandy; 0.75 oz lime juice; dash aromatic bitters; 3 oz club soda

0.5 ozFiery Ginger Syrup
0.25 ozDemerara Gum Syrup
1 ozgin
1 ozbrandy
0.75 ozlime juice
dasharomatic bitters
3 ozclub soda

Garnish: mint and a lime wedge

Preparation

1.
Add all ingredients except soda to a cocktail shaker
2.
Add ice and shake hard for 5 seconds
3.
Strain into a chilled highball glass filled with crushed ice
4.
Top with club soda

Notes

A 1942 classic from the lionized Shepheard Hotel in Cairo, allegedly created to cure hangovers... although we think they may have gotten the order of operations wrong there! This split-base highball needs a good kick of ginger burn to really sing.
