Ingredients
- ½ tspabsintheto rinse(to rinse)
- 2 ozrye whiskey
- ¾ ozsweet vermouth
- 2 tspcherry liqueurPeter Heering(Peter Heering)
Garnish: brandied cherry
Preparation
- 1.
Swirl the absinthe in a chilled coupe glass to coat, then discard the excess.
- 2.
Add all other ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir until well chilled.
- 3.
Strain into the absinthe-rinsed glass.
- 4.
Garnish with a brandied cherry.
Notes
This drink commemorates the 1898 sinking of the USS Maine, which precipitated the Spanish-American War.
