Fall spice syrup

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp
    cardamom
  • 5
    star anisewhole
  • 1 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 5
    ginger rootstems, diced
  • 3
    cinnamon sticks
  • 3
    whole cloves
  • 1
    orange twist
  • 2 cups
    fine white sugar
  • 2 cups
    water

Instructions

  1. 1.

    Toast the cardamom in a saucepan on medium heat.

  2. 2.

    Add the remaining ingredients and stir until the sugar has completely dissolved.

  3. 3.

    Let cool for 30 minutes, then strain into a jar with a fine-mesh sieve.

Notes

Keeps in the refrigerator for up to 4 weeks.
